Agriculture, irrigation and training must top agenda at COP 15

Dear AYP, COP 15 is around the corner and we as African youth should make our voices heard. For Africa to develop, I believe that the continent must work around making the continent food secure through development of relevant infrastacture like dams to support agriculture. A greenbelt where food crop, biofuel plants like jatropha and artificial forests are grown can be the basis for economic growth, employment creation and a basis for developing processing industries. Added to this Africa can be a major contributor to control of greenhouse gases through the increase of vegetation in the continent. For the above to happen, there is also need to develop appropriate human resource skills in agriculture and industry through North/South cooperation. Our governments must also be put to task to use developmental aid appropriately particularly aid that has to do with climate change. The voices of the youth must be heard beacuse we are the leaders of tomorrow. Africa is going to be the most vulnerable continent due the the consequences of climate change and yet it is already hard hit by dieases such as HIV/AIDS, wars and femine. That is the reason why the 12 representatives to COP 15 selected from the youth must make the loudest noise that we are tired of politians who only excel in mismanaging our future.
