It is now more than 15 years when ZanzibarGovernmnt introduced tourism industry to replace the clove production economy which declined for several decades. Befor that, the crop ensured the economy by contributing the government economy by 90%. How ever upon the introduction of tourism industry, there were no proper policies laid down to safe gurd the interest of the natives especially youths who since early used to face severe un employment problem. As a result the industry has been hijjacked by the foreigners from the main land Tanzanmia, Kenya, Uganda, DRC etc. While the most of the investors are Europeans especially Iltalia who bothers nothing to employ local youths in their hotels claiming that theydo not qualify for the posts.
